some people might roll their eyes at us for doing ridiculous things like this on holidays that don’t really matter, but to us, this is the stuff memories are made of! I love spending a few extra minutes of my morning to set out some of the dollar tree green things I've picked up over the past couple weeks. it is so fun for us. to see the wonder and excitement on my kids faces makes it all worth it. they are only kids once….I want to make it fun while it lasts! ; )

BACK TO THE DENTIST

About a month ago Brody had his dentist cleaning appt and the dentist found a couple new cavities. one of them was small but one was pretty deep that required him to get a shot to be numbed, and the dentist wasn’t sure how he would do but said to bring him back and we can try to do it here in our family office however if he couldn’t hold still or got upset they would have to refer him to a pediatric office and be sedated, and if that didn’t work then to the hospital to be put to sleep.. so obviously we were praying it could just be done in the family dentist office… however on friday march 6th we took brody to the appt and only about 5 min into it we knew it wasn’t going to work out.. poor little guy has a very strong gag reflex and just kept gagging when they would put any instrument in his mouth.. he sat really still and tried but kept gagging which would cause his mouth to close and move some, the dr very nicely said he thinks a pediatric office might work out better and being sedated would calm his gag reflex…

so about a week later he was having some tooth pain (crying every hour one night) so I frantically got him in to a pediatric office (which we LOVE by the way) and we had just an overview appt and thankfully they had an opening the very next morning!

On Friday march 13th we woke up and took the older two kids to school and peyton stayed the night with her best friend since I had to be at the dentist office by 8:30 with brody and she don’t start school until 9:15.. here we are on our way to the dentist

IMG_1474

when we got there daddy was there waiting, (which he surprised us because grandma donna was going to come down and sit with me, but since daddy was there I told her she didn’t have to come) they had explained everything to us the day before how it would all work, they would be taking him back and he was going to drink some medicine to make him sleepy and then come back out and sit with us for awhile then they would take him back alone to work on him, they said it typically takes about 30 minutes for the meds to work.. but with our tiny little guy it only took 15 minutes and we was wobbly and wanted to lay on my lap and watch some bubble guppies on my phone

they came out every 15 minutes to check his heart rate/pulse and finally after about 45 minutes they came and got him and carried him back… (grandma and grandpa even showed up too) I was nervous but I knew he would be fine and was just praying he would fall asleep back there so they could get stuff done…. well about 20 minutes into it the assistant came back and got us and started going over the financial info and the xrays they took (ahem*cough* $1800 bill our portion* after insurance pays another $1600) and they also found several more tiny cavities in between his teeth, apparently his mouth is so teeny tiny his teeth are all crowded and when we brush and even floss we cant really clean in between his teeth very good) then as we were talking to the girl, they paged her and she went to the back and came back out and told us its not going very well that he was doing good the first 15-20 minutes but he is really upset and crying (which they had him swaddled so I’m sure that alone bugged him) my heart was hurting.. I wanted nothing more than to run back and get my baby who was probably scared and had no idea why or what was happening to him. brandon was upset too and was pacing.. but the dr was hurrying and finishing up the 2 he had started and then said for the rest we need to go to the hospital to have him put under to finish the rest… the dr was holding him and calmed him down and brought him out less than 10 minutes later.. he was still very groggy and you could tell tired but wasn’t crying…the dr said he was a good boy he just didn’t want to continue when he was upset and crying he don’t want to put him through that and make him scared of him for the future. we left and went back to grandma and grandpas for lunch and brody fell asleep in the car and slept for about an hour and  half or so.. then he woke up and was so excited and proud of his “gold tooth” he calls it lol (its actually silver but he thinks gold is cooler)

he ate and started comign back around to his normal self as the day went on… I’m super nervous about the hospital visit in the next month or so but its something that has to be done.

OUR SPONTANEOUS SAFARI

A couple weeks ago, I got the crazy idea to go to the zoo on Sun the 8th, the forecast called for sunny warm weather and as much as I knew it would probably be packed, I wanted to chance it and try, and the evening before grandma donna sent me a text saying she wanted to come and bring Josiah with her! I knew it would be a fun little adventure for us all!

Brody really enjoyed seeing the animals and the other kids did as well..(bailey just came along for something to do) the weather was perfect for us! the day seemed to go by quickly… animals…lunch…more animals…and of course a treat! and even though a lot of the animals weren't out for some reason we still loved our spontaneous trip to the zoo with grandma donna and Josiah and cant wait for another adventure sooner than later.
